Gentlemen,
I think there must be a considerable number
of vacancies now for the Hong Kong Police though I
understand that you have only official information of there being one. As Inspector Gordon (now in
Scotland) has 3 Scotch recruits waiting, I shall be
much obliged if you could enquire from Hong Kong
how many men they will require this autumn -
Force is hardly ever up to strength, and this
causes great inconvenience.
The Scotch recruits are,
on the whole, the most satisfactory.
